Geometry

The geometry in this dataset is medium density, designed to be used with a low level of subdivision applied (preferably Catmull-Clark) at render time. The tyres however should only need subdividing for very close-up rendering. At other times, set the subdivision level to zero.

Scenes

The included scene files give you an option to have the car setup with the ‘load from scene’ option in mind for layout. The second scene however includes a basic studio environment and preset camera positions for you to render the model.

Controls

In both scenes, the Veyron model is setup with sliders for the main movable items. These are:

  • Steering

  • Rear Aerofoil Lift & Tilt

  • Secondary Foil Deployment

The doors are setup with the correct pivot points, and may be animated as required. The vehicle interior is good for medium shots, but is unlikely to be suitable for extreme close-ups (stills at any rate).

Ideal Requirements

This dataset has been produced with Lightwave 3D v9.6, and as such is the ideal requirement. Earlier versions maybe usable, but some shaders will not be supported, and therefore the model will look different when rendered. The scene file will not load correctly without editing the scene file manually with a text editor.

A 64bit operating system is highly recommended as this dataset is memory intensive. You can alleviate this somewhat by freezing the geometry in modeller at the required levels of subdivision, and saving as a new version of the model. This spares Lightwave the task of freezing the geometry at render time, and gives some useful extra memory headroom.
